Kenny Omega vs. Zack Sabre Jr. set for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door
For the first time since 2018, former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega will face former IWGP World Champion Zack Sabre Jr. as part of this month’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view.
Sabre Jr. issued the challenge in a vignette during Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, saying that the two haven’t squared off in the United States and while he knows he’s the best technical wrestler in the world, he questioned whether Omega was still the best, then quoting the title R.E.M.’s song “What’s The Frequency, Kenneth?”
Omega accepted the challenge off-screen and will be in action against Sabre Jr’s TMDK factionmate Bad Dude Tito on this Saturday’s Collision.
Their last singles match took place during the 2018 G1 tournament where Omega picked up the win. Their only singles bout before that came in 2013 for a UK indie.
It will be Sabre Jr.’s first match since last year’s Forbidden Door when he defeated Nigel McGuinness in an IWGP World title defense.
