International title match result from AEW Dynamite Beach Break

Konosuke Takeshita vs. Kyle Fletcher | AEW Dynamite

There is a new AEW International Champion after the events of Wednesday’s Beach Break edition of Dynamite and in a familiar stable: the Don Callis Family.

In a match between recent rivals, Kyle Fletcher defeated Konosuke Takeshita for the title, picking up a surprising clean win after hitting a running corner kick and second brain buster to get the win. Takeshita was favoring a bad arm which affected a backslide attempt which led to a thrust kick and first brain buster that the champion kicked out of.

It’s Fletcher’s first run with the title and first championship since a short second TNT title run ended this past April. Fletcher has now held three different AEW titles in his career.

The loss ends the 45-day run for Takeshita who had just won the belt at May’s Double or Nothing when he defeated Kazuchika Okada, also of the Callis clan. Fletcher made his surprise return from injury after the match, turning on his now former friend to help set this match into motion.

Takeshita, the reigning NJPW TV Champion, now heads back to NJPW to compete in this month’s G1 tournament.
