Women’s World title match set for AEW Redemption after surprise return

AEW Redemption 2026

After making her surprise return on Wednesday’s Beach Break edition of AEW Dynamite, Willow Nightingale now has her shot at the AEW Women’s World title.

Nightingale entered Wednesday’s Casino Gauntlet match in the number eight spot, hitting the Babe with the Power Bomb on former foe Julia Hart to get the win. She now faces reigning champion Thekla at this month’s first-ever Redemption pay-per-view in Montreal, Canada. It will be their second ever meeting and first since July 2025 when Thekla got the win.

After the match, Thekla (on commentary) attacked Nightingale and was about to lay her out with a belt shot when Mercedes Mone ran into the ring and took out both Thekla and Nightingale. Mone gets her World title shot at August’s All In after winning this year’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament.

Mone also has some new running mates in Divine Dominion who laid out Thekla’s Sisters of Sin on the ramp.

It was Nightingale’s first match since May 16 when she injured her shoulder in a TBS title defense against Red Velvet. She had to relinquish the title and withdraw from the Owen Hart Foundation tournament as a result. Vignettes of her training for her return started airing recently.
