Kendal Grey wins NXT Women’s title at Great American Bash
Kendal Grey is the new NXT Women’s Champion.
Grey defeated Lola Vice in the main event of Sunday’s Great American Bash in an extremely competitive match filled with striking and grappling reversals. The finish of the match had Vice connecting with a spinning backfist, only for Grey to rebound and counter with one of her own, sending them both to the floor. The soon recovered as Vice started to unleash some strikes. Grey escaped, went to the top rope, and landed the shades of Grey to win the NXT Women’s Championship for the first time.
The show ended with Grey celebrating with Wren Sinclair, who was successful earlier in the night against Ariana Grace.
The road to Grey’s title win
Vice had held the title for 85 days, pinning Jacy Jayne in a triple threat match that also involved Grey at Stand & Deliver on April 4. Since then, Grey had been keeping an eye on the NXT Women’s title scene, finally earning a rematch after defeating Kelani Jordan in a number one contender’s match.
Grey was the only new champion crowned on Sunday. In addition to Sinclair, Tony D’Angelo defeated Naraku to retain the NXT Championship, Zaria defeated Tatum Paxley to retain the Women’s NXT North American title, and NXT North American Champion Myles Borne retained against Tavion Heights.
