Conor McGregor gives health update after undergoing surgery
Former UFC two division champion Conor McGregor has undergone surgery to repair a torn right ACL and meniscus and had a simple message Wednesday about how things went:
“Surgery went excellent. I am confident.”
McGregor famously sustained the injury at July’s UFC 329 after making his return to the UFC after five years away. It came within the first few seconds as he flew in with a kick attempt to Max Holloway and the fight was stopped within 69 seconds with virtually no action as he was unable to continue.
He is still planning to make a return to action next summer, the final fight on his UFC contract, while UFC head Dana White previously said he’ll be out for a year.
He has remained positive since sustaining the injury and has shared videos of him training since getting hurt. He initially wanted to fight again in April, but that was not meant to be.
Whether he will remain the draw he was in July remains to be see. His fight did a record UFC gate at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas with Paramount claiming the entire show did 15.9 million total viewers with a peak of 8.3 million concurrent streams.
