Two WWE ID wrestlers pulled from PRODUCE event
In what is becoming a trend, two WWE ID contracted wrestlers have been pulled from an upcoming indie event.
Less than a month after being announced for PRODUCE’s Volume 2 Taigastyle event on Thursday, July 16, the promotion announced earlier Wednesday afternoon that Marcus Mathers would not be appearing and later added Chazz “Starboy” Hall to the list.
“We wish Marcus the best of luck on his journey to WWE. A replacement will be named,” the promotion wrote on X, later writing in relation to Hall that he was off the show “due to obligations to WWE’s Independent Development program.”
Mathers was set to compete in a 15-man battle royal with the winner entering number 30 in a Ranbo match at their August 3 event while Hall was set to be part of a six-man tag.
In responding to a comment claiming the Mathers tweet had a “laughable amount of passive aggressiveness,” PRODUCE replied with the following:
“No, I love Marcus. I want him to succeed. He’s doing what’s best for him and we’re doing what’s best for us. I have an obligation to our audience to be transparent. I was offered no replacement or compensation. This is how they market their talent to indies,” sharing a picture with text from the WWE ID approach.
Of note, PRODUCE Wrestling recently signed a deal to air on MyAEW.
It’s the latest WWE ID talent to be pulled from a show over the last month which includes Hall just last week, Aaron Rourke, and four wrestlers in early-June.
